And a full no-trade clause, per Passan.

I misread the number and thought it was $225M. So, yeah, that gives him the highest AAV among position players.

    Rosenthal is reporting $260M.

If it’s an extension he’s not a free agent for 5 years. 2 on the current and after the first 3 on the new contract

Arenado is a free agent after this season.

    Was.

That's good for both Nolan and the Rockies.
Them resigning Buddy Black for 3 additional yesterday cinched this whole deal.

    Grienke's deal still boggles me.
He is receiving a paycheck every week that will be more than a lot of people on here will make the rest of our lives, and he went 16-11 last year.
The D-Backs will be stuck with that deal forever.
Nobody (not even the Yankees) would take that contract on.

If you're rating Greinke's contract by wins, he's 45-25 with them.

    That's 18% of their wins.

Sounds like a good return to me.

Only three more years to pay him. No reason he shouldn't be as good this year as the last two. But you never know.

Dombrowski said yesterday that Sox weren't going to sign anybody who wasn't in camp already. This of course may be subject to change, but they've been utterly uninterested in Kimbrel since the end of the Series parade.

Greinke's first in Arizona was awful, but he's been Top 10 in WAR among pitchers the last two years (and five of the last six). He's earned his money for the most part.

It's not his fault his teammates are not that good.
