Technically you’re not allowed to restrict a player’s service time for financial reasons, it has to be a baseball decision. If they admitted the real reason, he could file a grievance and have the service time restored.

Can’t prove it, but I suspect Kris Bryant holds a grudge

True, I have heard that but the "he's not ready" line is stupid. Now, maybe they think he needs to get into shape before he can hack the grind of an MLB season, he isn't exactly a physical specimen.

Bryce Harper has been jerking the Phillies off for so long this offseason, he is going to need shoulder surgery.
If the Dodgers decide to go long-term, he ends up in LA.
If the Dodgers decide to stick short term, I still think he ends up in Chicago.

It is a bad image. It is a terrible visual that an exciting, talented player is held back for what is sheckels.
The Jays and other teams may make a few bucks of this, but it can hinder them in less tangible ways.

I do not know about that. I just looked at the tickets available for that game, and it seems that there is quite a lot left.

Indians always sell out Opening Day, as they did in about an hour yesterday. Then there's 10K at the next three games, with a couple thousand dressed as empty seats.

And now comes word he met with the Giants again. The team that it makes the least sense for him to go to if he wants to win a World Series.

It all seems pretty simple to deduce. After months, Harper has a choice he doesn't like, go with the Phillies, a team he doesn't want, for the most money, or go with the Dodgers, a team he'd prefer, for less money, which is also something he doesn't want. So he's flailing about trying to create a market, so far without success.

If you're talking about signing a 10-year deal, you could do much worse than signing with an organization such as the Giants.

Exactly, and it makes MLB look fraudulent with teams telling such a blatant lie.
