When Ohio State hired Urban - they just hired him. No leaks. No rumors. It was done. It was announced. Its crazy that with all the "executive search firms" involved in these deals UCLA hasn't gotten it done already. If a coach wasn't ready to sign a contract with UCLA a month ago - and only goes because their current school won't give them a fat extension, they're not the right person for the job. When was the last time UCLA hired their "first choice?"

Not disputing that Tech is historically a basketball wasteland. But the school has done some cosmetic renovations to Cassell Coliseum, which is about all you can do to that arena without building something new. And there is a pretty nice basketball practice facility there. There really isn't any place on campus to build a new arena, and I don't think the school will ever go that route. Cassell is a dump, but it has character. Much like Cameron Indoor Stadium, which is an even bigger dump.

Stackhouse in talks with Vanderbilt, sources say

This would be a good get for Vandy. A known name with NBA cred. He doesn’t have college coaching experience, but this would be a great place for some on the job training. Better than going with the other name I’d heard, retread John Thompson III, who wasted a lot of good teams at Georgetown and never recruited DC as well as he should have.

Now sounds like Kelvin Sampson is staying at Houston (or at least not going to Arkansas).

No, you don't get the SEC money of Arkansas but recruiting HAS to be much easier at Houston.

Sounds like they might be targeting Wojo now anyway. I fully support the idea of VT just yanking Marquette’s coach every time it has an opening.

Markus Howard should know that Tech has a fine communications program, since he's majoring in digital media. :)

Who does Dan Guerrero have nudes of that he’s able to maintain a job. He’s trashed both revenue sports.

The revenue sport these days in Westwood is the woman's gymnastic team, which outdraws the men's hoop squad.

Meanwhile, across town (and across the country), Guerrero's counterpart is hustlin'

USC’s Lynn Swann spends a Saturday in Virginia signing autographs for money

Along with Randy Moss, Emmitt Smith and the actor who played the unmasked variation of mass murderer Jason Voorhees in the horror film “Friday the 13th Part 2,” Swann was among more than a dozen sports and entertainment celebrities who appeared Saturday at a memorabilia show held in the suburbs of the nation’s capital.

Well, personally, I'd much rather watch UCLA's women's gymnastics team.

Cameron has been renovated extensively in recent years in concourses and seating areas (ie actual individual seats rather than the students sections.) So I don’t think it qualifies as a dump.
