Aside from everyone's reflexive response to Herman Cain's name coming up for anything. ...

    1) What difference does it make? We are talking about a board that dictates the price of money and credit to us. Why is Ben Bernanke any more qualified to do that than Herman Cain? Look at it this way. Let's say we created a board to decide how much a car should cost, rather than letting buyers and sellers figure that out for themselves -- the efficient way. Would anyone be particularly "qualified" to do that any better than a market, especially when the purpose of that board is to price fix the cost of whatever it is in charge of lower than the market would set the price?
    2) Cain was Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board in Kansas City, so even though he isn't from a line of PhDs that all trained each other for the nonsensical role we are talking about, he does know how the system works.
    3) With that out of the way, Cain is a monetary hawk, at least if you go by his past statements. Trump (like every president) wants the Fed to keep mispricing credit perpetually, in order to monetize as much debt as possible (to prop up an asset bubble -- Trump watches the stock market) and to enable our government to keep spending more and more without the government drowning in the debt. Stephen Moore's bullshit used to be monetary hawkishness, too, but now political hack that he is, he is like every other hypocrite who gets appointed to that board, and he thinks we need to keep suppressing rates (to "help" Trump). Alan Greenspan was a monetary hawk, until he soaked in the adulation of being the czar in charge of the price of money. In the case of Cain, unless he too is going to do a 180, that appointment wouldn't make sense for what Trump wants, at least based on Cain's past statements

The most important takeaway is - once again - the only people Donald Trump knows he wants is his government is people who he sees on Fox News.

It's blatantly obvious Kushner would never be able to obtain a security clearance. Trump wouldn't, either, if he were forced to go through the normal process.

The eQuip form is annoyingly long. Major sections of it demand you disclose:
    - Contact with representatives of foreign governments
    - Business interests in foreign countries

Both Kushner and Trump have repeatedly lied about dealings in foreign countries. That would be an enormous, enormous red flag in the clearance process.

Today's Mueller leak, or at least the first one, goes to NBC News. Trump campaign "unwitting dupes of Russian intelligence." Each one gets a little nastier, a little more specific. At this pace, Saturday morning's leak will be "we know where the pee tape is."

I'm picturing an endgame much like Conan's last days as host of "Tonight." Every night he'd do something a little more outrageous until the deal is done ... so let's hope it doesn't come down to a Masturbating Bear moment.
