The owner of that website recently told a digital marketing convention I attended that the year after Trump got elected they nearly went out of business. It seems that after eight years of booming business while Obama was in the office, doomsday preppers actually believed Trump was going to solve all the worlds problems and they didn’t need to buy anymore k-rations.

He said business has been great the past year or so. Make of that what you will.

I was thinking the other day that it's a good bet Trump's people will try to not have the typical three debates ahead of the election. He'll not want to pass up an opportunity to get in front of the cameras, but I bet RNC people, aids, etc. know he'll get made to look foolish and go off the rails.

He looked foolish and went off the rails last time - and won.

He had Ben Carson CONCEDING a point about the dangers of vaccinations during the GOP debates.

Whether his opponents are just too measured, or too timid . . . they often come off looking worse. Nobody wants to take the "un-presidential" move of just telling him point-blank, "What you're saying is fucking stupid, and this is why . . . "

Debates matter a lot less than TV (which benefits from them) think, but the problem for Trump's side is that his cognitive decline has had four more years to gather steam. Also, incumbent Presidents usually fare poorly in their first debates of the general. Reagan did, both Bushes did and Obama did. Only Clinton was an exception.

I hope I'm wrong but I still have seen nothing to convince me he won't win again.

He could win again, sure. But he's running a much more uphill race then even last time. As for evidence, see the 2018 vote for the House of Representatives.

Yeah, those 2010 midterms signaled Obama's doom in 2012. Almost as much as those 1994 midterms sealed Clinton's fate in 1996.

If the elections had been six months after the midterms, both guys would've lost, decisively. They weren't. Trump has all the time he needs to turn it around. But it's hard to see him altering his policies or approach as Clinton and Obama did. His best chance is what got him elected in the first place, third (and fourth!) party voting. Howard Schultz's ego is Trump's best friend.

Trump certainly was a preening jackass in the 2016 debates, but as someone just noted, he's four years down the road in mental decline. He also won't be facing Hillary. I think if he is head to head with Biden, O'Roarke, Castro, or even Harris, they'll tear him to shreds. Then, when he gets made to look foolish, he'll lose what mind he has and blurt out something even over the top for him. That might be fun to watch.
