Shoot, he’s already untouchable and doing all the things you mentioned in your second paragraph. It’s sickening.

 

Totally agree.

 

And if they don't impeach him, Trump will be untouchable for the remainder of his presidency. He will have carte blanche to completely ignore the rule of law, shred the Constitution, make his own rules by fiat and trample any judge who gets in his way, and use his cabinet cronies to go after his political enemies. It could be the end of our republic.

But if they do impeach him, they at least force the GOP to own their support of his fraudulent Presidency. That is why the Dems SHOULD impeach him.

 

There are other solutions

 

Considering how miserable the job makes him, perhaps the greatest punishment is a full term. I think the best play for the Dems is just to keep finding out stuff and make sure that people know that the Senate Rs are abetting the misdeeds that they may ultimately judge.

 

Trumpists will be unhappy. Someone in the FBI is about to get whacked. I’m guessing the militia groups had a secret deal with Trump.

 

I think it much more likely one of this guy's collaborators/blind eye turners in the Border Patrol ratted him out when it dawned on said official as the story came out that here was an action that could actually cost him his pension.

"Mueller then answers the question of what happened to the counterintelligence components of the investigation. They stayed in the FBI:

From its inception, the Office recognized that its investigation could identify foreign intelligence and counterintelligence information relevant to the FBI's broader national security mission. FBI personnel who assisted the Office established procedures to identify and convey such information to the FBI. The FBI's Counterintelligence Division met with the Office regularly for that purpose for most of the Office's tenure. For more than the past year, the FBI also embedded personnel at the Office who did not work on the Special Counsel's investigation, but whose purpose was to review the results of the investigation and to send—in writing—summaries of foreign intelligence and counterintelligence information to FBIHQ and FBI Field Offices. Those communications and other correspondence between the Office and the FBI contain information derived from the investigation, not all of which is contained in this Volume. This Volume is a summary. It contains, in the Office's judgment, that information necessary to account for the Special Counsel's prosecution and declination decisions and to describe the investigation's main factual results."
