So, look. I know remaking the electoral system - in the broadest way possible - is a thing for Democrats in 2019. I get that. So is rethinking the constitution - the 13th amendment is one. It's part of what I think is a big re-education campaign - not unlike the one the Tea Party attempted to foist on American people, using Glenn Beck's history traveling tour as a means - of voters who generally can't be bothered to care about many of the right things.

I just don't agree with Sanders' position. And honestly I don't get it. I think on some level Sanders really believes, but others will use it cynically because they figure it endears them to millennial voters who like virtue-signalling their concern for prisoners between bouts of social media shaming the dude sitting behind them who likes the wrong music.

It's a losing position. The BTK guy, voting. I mean, good God.

As much as we say that Trump could shoot someone on 5th Ave. and not lose his base - I also think he's lost any ability to increase his approval by even 5 percent. He's double digits net disapproval in Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Colorado, Minnesota.
Trump will need to win Ohio, Fla. PA, Az and Va (all states where he is currently underwater by single digits) to win.

Don't know that much but I do remember that Iowa has their own unique system for redistricting. I believe they are drawn by a nonpartisan staff.

It's not exactly politics, but it is a politically explosive idea. Bless her heart, in all sincerity.

"By any objective measure a pay ratio over a thousand is insane," she said of Iger's pay package, which amounts to $66 million — 1,424 times that of the median salary of a Disney employee of $46,127.

"There's a point at which there's just too much going around the top of the system into this class of people who — I'm sorry this is radical — have too much money," she said.

"Besides, at the pay levels we are talking about, an executive giving up half his bonus has zero effect on his quality of life," she writes. "For the people at the bottom, it could mean a ticket out of poverty or debt. It could offer access to decent health care or an education for a child."

For all the crud Disney gets - that has been an extremely well run company for generations. They know their brand is everything. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually did something like this - if it made more people feel better about forking over thousands of dollars to keep their kids happy.
It's crazy how few missteps Disney has had. Cruiseline, Broadway, Marvel, Pixar and now Star Wars.

Which is the point. Presumably that board of directors thinks Igor has brought a ton of value, which merits his pay. The market cap of the company has grown by a lot over the last 10 years. The owners of the company are happy. Disney is not a fixed pie, where what the CEO earns is taken from the workers. Which is the fallacy of the populist class warfare behind this stuff. That CEO can have hundreds of millions of dollar of impact, positive or negative, on the company's performance. They effectively can make the pie bigger (or smaller), and if you want to keep someone good, you need to compensate them in a way that keeps them with you, and not going to elsewhere.

I can't stand people who want to tell others how much they should be compensated. Unless you own Disney shares (i.e. -- you are an owner of the company), it really is none of your business. It's between Igor and his employer, just as everyone who works there is free to negotiate the highest compensation they can, trying to leverage the value they bring.

For some things, like Disney, people just love to overpay. For others (journalism, anyone?), their wallets are hermetically sealed.

To be fair, this statement means that it is, in fact, Abigail Disney's business to give her input on CEO compensation.
