And, by the way, may we remind the court yet again ...

McConnell is going to retire and let the next Senate leader deal with the rule changes he leaves behind.

I don't care if Mike Pence becomes president in the unlikely event of a Senate conviction.
He is not a winnable presidential candidate and wouldn't have enough time to do any real damage.
And for all his quiet malice I believe he has some respect for convention. Certainly the sanctity of marriage.
Get this stupid motherfucker out, now.

It’s different when Republicans do it.

In fairness, McGahn and Giuliani helped the President avoid perjury by advising him not to meet with Mueller. Clinton was an idiot for perjuring himself. He could have admitted the indiscretion under oath and come out OK on the other side (with the American public, at least, if not Hillary and Chelsea).

Obstruction, on the other hand, as the President likes to say, he did it "bigly."

Failure to nominate heads of critical departments in a timely manner.
    Undermining the separation of powers
Directing staff to lie and obstruct justice.
Using his position for private profit.
Allowing his personal business interests to direct government policy.

These are basic proveable impeachable offenses and some have been for Johnson, Clinton and Nixon. Skip the impeachment talk, just call for his resignation.

He is dismantling the federal government. Looting all the money he can get his hands on.

    That's the whole idea.

What I'd like to know is what the House can do about the open defiance of people subpoenaed not showing up. If it was one of us, we'd be in jail by the end of the day. Can they issue arrest on sight orders to the Capitol police? I guess they don't have control over U.S. marshals. Can they have D.C. police go pick people up?
