I can see this. Since it is clear you hate America with a passion I can see Trump being your type of leader. Thanks for the answer.

Tulsi Gabbard is probably my type of leader. But thanks for playing.

Is the child in this analogy the American democracy and government we live in, that so many refugees yearn to join?

I'd love to see changes to America, too - a few that would even be seen as draconian (on gun control, also on abortion, issues of life, in other words). But the whole "better people" thing is, you know, tricky.

One reasonable fear I have is The Left "better peopling" itself into, at least in the short term, an even more right-wing America. David Frum, no Trump lover, had an extraordinary piece on immigration recently. A must-read.

If Liberals Won’t Enforce Borders, Fascists Will

With immigration pressures bound to increase, it becomes more imperative than ever to restore the high value of national citizenship, not to denigrate or disparage others but because for many of your fellow citizens—perhaps less affluent, educated, and successful than you—the claim “I am a U.S. citizen” is the only claim they have to any resources or protection. Without immigration restrictions, there are no national borders. Without national borders, there are no nation-states. Without nation-states, there are no electorates. Without electorates, there is no democracy. If liberals insist that only fascists will enforce borders, then voters will hire fascists to do the job liberals refuse to do.

David Frum is an immigrant from Canada. He also has written deploring immigration into Canada. It's pretty poorly disguised racism.

Makes sense. Most Russians hate gay people, too.

I don't know what to tell you. It's very good. And I think it's pretty fair, too - even-handed - even if it arrives at a pretty specific conclusion.

Biden reporting $6.3 mil in first 24 hours. He notes that it is the most of any candidate in the first 24 hours, but when you are planning a run for President you line up donations ahead of time. So he's a good $12 mil behind Bernie at this point. Hope he doesn't wind up being the Jeb or McCain of this election and end up having to cut expenses because people aren't buying in, but I wouldn't be surprised.

    From the Joe-mail.
And Dan, it’s proof we are running a truly grassroots campaign:

    • 97% of online donations were under $200
    • We received donations from all 50 states and US territories
    • The average online donation was $41
So thank you so much to all 96,926 people who chipped in on Day One. We couldn’t have achieved this amazing milestone without you.

How about child molestors? Should they have voice, however small, in what our laws say about the consequences of child molestation?
