I think the NRA might be challenged for national "supremacy" by one of the other gun groups that have sprouted up across the country when LaPierre finally decides to let go. He's almost 70. North is 75. There is a generation of political types who came of age in the Reagan era (Rs and Ds) who I don't think will ever leave DC on their own two feet.

 

Technically, since fewer people are attending this year because it won't be funny and nobody present will get smacked - I guess you could say Trump not attending is costing a kid a scholarship. Anyway (the take on "Roger's Angels" isn't so funny now).

 

As a gun owner and occasional poster to firearm message boards, I have been following this with interest. There are two factions the Wayne LaPierre and the other the Oliver North.

From what I can tell both factions were bleeding everything they could from the faithful contributors but had a falling out over the divisions of the tithes.

 

Owning or pretending to own a gun is fine if you are white.
