He has been in two movies based on Marvel comics, but Deadpool 2 isn't a Marvel Studios film.

I imagine we'll see a new Fantastic Four in the near future, which could probably lead to a Silver Surfer film. I'd love to see that team done right.

Psttt... Fantastic Four has kind of always sucked, though. Like, Dr. Doom is where its at with them.

So give me FF vs Doom, and I'm happy. Cameo by Spider-Man. Introduce Silver Surfer. Galactus becomes main threat to MCU.

Why not Doom as a main threat?

Marvel Comics actually turned the shield over to Sam in 2014, so the movie just followed through on what the comics had already done.

That's actually not a bad idea. I think of Doom mainly as a nemesis for the Fantastic Four, with occasional bouts against Spider-Man and Iron Man, but he's pretty powerful. Galactus fits more of the Thanos mold, as a cosmic-level super-villain, but Doom is probably just as powerful. There's no reason MCU needs to follow the same formula again.

Probably the biggest drawback to that idea is that it would leave the Fantastic Four film with a second-rate villain, and might doom (pun intended) the franchise before it gets going.

Fantastic Four needs to be a different kind of movie. It needs to be about exploration and family, not straight-up superhero stuff. That's what those characters are about.

Galactus is the more challenging threat (pun avoided), but Dr. Doom is so much more interesting if he's done well. That was probably the biggest problem in the movies we've gotten about the Fantastic Four. The depictions of Dr. Doom weren't good.

I would read The Eternals. It seems like the major threat could be in that series.

Dr. Doom is Marvel's greatest villain.Without a great villain, you can't have a great comic book or comic book movie, which is why James Brolin was MVP of the last two Avengers' pics. My guess is that because she is so powerful herself, Capt. Marvel will get the Galactus type supercreatures from parts unknown villains to fight. Which well-known actor would have both the chops and the guts to do Doom, who after all is a man in an iron mask, which cuts down on technique?

I want to see this as a Disney Plus series so bad. Could be amazing.
