The pictures Trump has on his lickspittle flunkies must be astounding.

It would be nice if our national policy of nation building actually included the United States.

I understand where you are coming from, but think about what you just said. . .you're suggesting that if the Dems impeach Trump, and Trump wins re-election, that will serve as a deterrent to future presidents? Moreso than if Trump were not impeached but lost re-election? The "we won't win" rationale is 100 percent viable. If you think impeachment might serve to lessen the Dems chance in 2020, you are doing a huge disservice by supporting impeachment. Because if Trump wins reelection in spite of impeachment, future Presidents will be even more emboldened. Plus, we'll have four more years of Trump.

"We won't win" was in reference to the unlikelihood of the Senate voting to convict the President.

That said, no, I don't believe the potential results of the next election should have a bearing on the decision to impeach. Either the President committed malfeasance worthy of impeachment or he didn't (hint: he did). The chance that getting acquitted by the Senate might give him a bump at the polls is immaterial.

I also disagree that 45 winning in spite of impeachment would embolden future Presidents more than knowing that the Legislative Branch has the stones to act as a check and/or balance on their power. They'll take their chances against a cowering, feckless Legislative Branch over a fickle electorate any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Impeachment is the right thing to do. Corruption and obstruction of justice cannot be allowed without a rebuke.

The poll numbers will not move. And if the Dems can't beat Trump, impeachment or not, then there are bigger problems.

And as I've said before, if the roles were reversed, republicans would've started impeachment right after being sworn in after the midterms.

Agreed. This bill won't ever go into effect.

Unless Roberts is willing to oversee the dismantling of the Supreme Court's political neutrality in exchange for reversing Rowe. I have seen enough established norms go down the shitter that I'm concerned that he'll do just exactly that.
