    OK, that was funny.

My hometown still has the best barbecue I've ever had, though the supposedly more famous place in town just closed. In a spot now that has 2-3 really good places. Would take them over anything in the Triangle or Metrolina.

For my money, Lexington has the best ‘que. As for Raleigh, it’s a comical thing that was born out of the old ECHL. I mean, it’s not like they’re Atlanta. They just think they are.

This is just the sixth year of the wild card format, but yeah, I don’t think two wild card teams have met yet.

But wild cards only make up 1/4 of the teams in the first place, and can only meet in the conference final, so they would both have had to win two rounds first. I can see why it hasn’t happened yet.

The Islanders turned the puck over like it was their job in the last eight minutes.

I'm rooting for Carolina at this point just to say that the Caps have either won the Cup or lost to the champs in each of the last four years. :)

I'd just like for them to wrap up this series sooner rather than later.

No, I'm not assuming the fourth win is already in the bag. But the earlier this series can be wrapped up, the better the chances of healing a lot of hurting bodies. It could help the health status Jordan Martinook, Petr Mrazek and Micheal Ferland in particular (the guess is that TVR is injured and out a while no matter the scenario). Martinook has been skating on basically one leg, we keep hearing that Ferland is close and Mrazek is supposedly day-to-day, which suggest a groin strain or something like than rather than a torn or severely pulled muscle.

I am hoping that Andrei Svechnikov is all the way back and cleared of concussion issues since he was playing in Game 3.

    This post isn’t aging well.

Still, Trotz got further this year. So, fuck cheap Ted.

When you're Svech's size, don't take on an angry bear. It can be debated that Ovechkin should not have engaged him and skated away. It can also be debated that Svechnikov should have realized that Ovechkin is a few weight divisions above him and was much more ready.

Not blaming Ovechkin. A young hockey player with immense potential learned a valuable on-ice lesson.

Andrei's big brother, Evgeny, says he will avenge his brother next season
Evgeny missed the season with a torn ACL and has to worry about making the Wings first

This sounds like it could be part of the multitude of Rocky XX sequels.

    Ovi vs. Svechnikov

    Andrei! Andrei!

Seems there are 5 or 6 pucks clanking off the posts every game. A lot more than normal.

Yeah, I don't think anyone in the NHL -- outside of Chara -- is "avenging" Ovechkin. Dude hadn't fought in nine years. He's like 6-3, 235. He has 20 pounds on the elder Svechnikov. Ovechkin would knock him the fuck out too, if he cared enough about such peons.
