The Star Wars Land they're building at the Disney Parks will have a Millenium Falcon simulator and some "walk and ride" like the Haunted Mansion - coolest thing? a shop where you can build your own droid.

Reagan named his “spend a shit ton of money on weapons plan,” Star Wars.

Obama hosted May the Fourth events at the White House. Actually, Obama often talked about his love for the films.

Of course, trump railed on Obama for Star Wars, then did a promo of the apprentice with Darth Vader.

I'm with you on this. Making it a better sword fight didn't do anything to diminish the emotional stakes at hand. So, while @Double Down is inherently right that better sword fights don't equal better drama, in this particular instance, it would have because all the background stuff is the same. If somebody loved the original Star Wars, it's hard to argue it wouldn't have been better with a professionally-made version of the fight you linked.

That said, I agree with your initial point. Nobody should tempt Lucas with something like that. The only change he should make to Star Wars from this time on is to put the scene with Han Solo and Greedo back the way it was in the first damn place.

Better yet, release the original cut on DVD.

Yep ... Greedo was a grievous mistake, and the changes made to ROTJ — most notably the song number in Jabba's palace and the celebration song at the end — were so much worse than the original they defied explanation. The new song at the end of ROTJ is so melancholy, I can't stand it. The Ewoks singing "Yub Nub" was so much more joyful.

I'd be much happier if he just restored all three to the original cuts. The scene with the digital Jabba the Hutt in Star Wars is crap, too. It removes so much potential menace from the character, especially the bit with Han stepping on him. (Which they had to do because they were using footage of him running through the scene with a human being in a costume, but still, why bother if it looks like crap?)

That said, none of it rises to the level of Greedo. The current version makes no sense, it undermines Han Solo's characterization and it looks like shit.

Right. Like that's the whole point of Solo's character. He's a selfish, unscrupulous smuggler who would have no problem shooting someone else before he gets shot himself. It's part of what makes his eventual hero turn that much more meaningful.

I hate those "Han shot first" shirts.

Han shot only! Han shot, and then Greedo was dead. He didn't squeeze off one last round as he died. He was just dead.

Where'd that even start? I just watched the scene again on YouTube and it's clear as day that Greedo never got a shot off.

Maybe it's like a "Play it again, Sam" thing. Ingrid Bergman never said those words in Casablanca, but that's how people remember it.

It's not that anyone "remembers" it as Greedo shooting second. It's that Lucas changed it to Han shot second, so people say he shot first. It's not about when Han shot vs. when Greedo shot. It's about when Han shot vs. when Han shot. He didn't shoot second, he shot first. He also shot last, but he shot first.

It's also a lot snappier than "Han shot only." Yeesh.
