"See that guy behind me? Abraham Lindon. You know he lost the Civil War, but they still made a statue of him. The Lindon Memoriam. They shouldn't make statues of losers. Unless we're talking about Robert E. Lee. He was a great general, wasn't he? Now, some say he too lost the Civil War. But really, if you think about it, since I am president, you could say General Lee really did win the Civil War or at least the time that followed it. Right folks? Some people say I should tear down the Lindon statue. Then maybe some very fine people will protest that. Maybe I'll replace it with a statue of me, your favorite president. We'll see what happens."

The women even further left of Milano made a decent point, that presuming women’s primary value is as a sexual being is kind of a shitty thing.

I can appreciate how the star of Poison Ivy 2 might imagine otherwise.

    “Think of it.”

He might as well be a Scooby Doo villain.

Like 'Bamboozled,' an underrated entry in the Spike Lee canon.

Bamboozled is better. That movie came in an era when movies were really, really good, and it was simply one of many. It’d stand out more now.

Lee had a terrific decade after Malcolm X. A lot of his work in that time was overlooked, other than 25th Hour (excellent) and Summer of Sam (a dynamic misfire).

Agreed. Much better. In fact, I think 'Bamboozled' is one of his best, and will be recovered years from now as such. It arrived ten years or so too soon.

But the two movies share the common fate of so much of his work, to be misunderstood and misrepresented by critics.

Pet theory: Spike Lee is as underrated as Oliver Stone is overrated.

Poor Al Capone was constantly spied upon too. Think of it.
