Fuck how you feel about Chris Paul, that was perfectly acceptable gamesmanship. Hell no I'm not letting the greatest shooter in the game today find his rhythm on my home court. For all the constant bitching about how everyone in the association is too friendly with each other these days I appreciate some good pettiness toward an opponent.

I do, too. And let’s be real — had the Rockets not choked and if this story still became public, CP would be celebrated. But because they lost, it’s easy to make him look like a chump.

This was a goood little anecdote that Marcus Thompson dug up, but getting the days/games wrong on it was pretty bad. Easy info to confirm. I hated to see the correction on something like that.

 

It's more than Paul, though. It's Harden auditioning for the Olympic diving team. It's the organization submitting it's own report on officiating, never mind the 27 straight missed 3s. And remember they congratulated themselves on a first-half championship? Like they accomplished something.

I mean, I’m not saying the Rockets are not unlikable or that I care for or even have respect for CP. I just don’t think that particular incident described in The Athletic was as pretty or absurd as the things you mentioned.

 

Maybe not to us. Athletes are different animals though. Anything for a little extra motivation.
