I hope that this article is correct, and that there are Republican lawyers out there who value the rule of law more than they do protecting Trump. There have been a few signs of this developing, and I pray I see more.

Suddenly conservative lawyers are condemning Trump for abuses of power

I have huge reservations about George Conway. I still have my suspicions that he and Smellyanne are tag teaming, playing both sides of the game and hoping to emerge as less unacceptable. That said, this twitter thread from him deserves a look. Some good points made here.

He's kind of like Shawn Kemp. Has to think about which child came from which babymama.

I hope there is a diamond the size of a basketball in my garage and that Rush will tour again.

It would only take a few judges, lawyers, and members of Congress to make a huge difference. For instance, if Sen. Burr of the Sen. Intel. committee (who is not going to run again) decides to actually put the interests of the country over the GOP, he alone could massively damage Trump. I refuse to believe that there are no Republicans who see what is happening to our country and are willing to fight for it.

Instead of all these retiring members being praised for not kowtowing to the President - I'm surprised more GOPers don't get called out out their obedience, dismissing their support merely as fear - to their face.

They'd merely retreat into the persecuted victim persona. "They're all out to get us/me."

Bamboozled in part was caught up in the controversy of Spike vs. Tarantino for his (over)use of a certain word in Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. The Tarantino-based character I in Bamboozled becomes a villain of the piece, that wasn’t a winning argument in 2000, and the movie never quite breaks free of that. It would now for its critics because people don’t know the context.

That it came after Summer of Sam - movie that ultimately just didn’t work for a lot of critics and was too lurid to connect with even coastal audiences - is important context too. Spike went for a Scorsese and didn’t get there. (Scorsese himself didn’t get there that often; he’s made his share of misfires after Goodfellas.)
