The people of the North love Jon. The people of Kings Landing dont care one way or another. Theyd have been told by Cersei he was a dragon lover or whatever other tale, same as she told about Dany. The people of Kings Landing have no reason to love Jon.

She sacked the city with ease with one dragon. That’s such a poor choice by Weiss and Beinoff to me. It takes all the weight away from losing the other two. And it begs the question of why she didnt sack the shit out of the place with all 3 four bloody years ago.....

The only reason they’ve left themselves is pretty much, back then we needed to stretch this 4 more years and keep her across the narrow sea, and now the shows over. Its frustrating as all hell.

Dany knew that. She looked at Tyrion and said directly "And you told him. Sansa told you, and you did exactly what she knew you would". Someone had to be punished, and if she killed all the allies she was pissed with there would be few left. So Varys was the whipping boy. The only one left she really trusts is Grey Worm.

All that plus Jon pulling away from her. She trusted him enough to love him, and now he's not only going to take her throne, but he turns her down in the most personal way possible. As she said, at that point her mindset was "Ok, I'll just have to make you all fear me instead."

She wanted to sack King’s Landing from the moment she arrived. Tyrion convinced her not to, convinced her she could win the love of the people and turn them against Cersei. She knew she could take King’s Landing at any time, but the loss of innocent life would be great. Tyrion convincer hell’s her then that she could rule by being loved. She decided tonight that she could only rule through fear.

I've been pretty pissy about the writing, particularly the last two episodes. I think this one really went a long way toward redeeming things. There were some inconsistencies, largely about the fleet and the scorpions on the walls, but I can live with them. I didn't like Jaime and Cersei going out that way, but it got it done. Deck is cleared for the finale.

You don't often get Hollywood showing the sack of a city, and they did pretty well with it. There probably should have been more rape than there was, but GoT has caught hell about non-consensual sex a lot. There was damn little looting, and that was a bit off as well, but oh well.

Cleganebowl was very well resolved. Nice final turn with the Hound and Arya.

So many things that I thought might happen were nowhere near right, lol. Even more theories that I didn't buy that were wrong as well.

This was a satisfying episode overall, far more so than after the fight at Winterfell.

    Season 7, Episode 2:
Daenerys: I am not here to be Queen if the Ashes.
Olenna Tyrell: That’s very nice to hear. Of course, I can’t remember a queen who was better loved than my granddaughter. The common people loved her. The nobles loved her. And what is left of her now? Ashes. Commoners, nobles, they’re all just children really. They won’t obey you unless they fear you.

    Season 8, Episode 5
Daenerys to Jon: Far more people I’m Westeros love you than love me. I don’t have love here. I only have fear.

Back then they were trying to get through the major points of George’s slow, pondering, meandering anthropological study/travelogue.

God, I wish Jaime had told Euron that the baby was his.
