Opinion | Mitch McConnell has done far more to destroy democratic norms than Donald Trump

McConnell is the living, breathing, calculating face of everything that is wrong with our current politics. To the extent to which our system has become dysfunctional, McConnell is the single chief architect of that sclerosis. President Donald Trump is a dangerous, blundering wrecking ball, but McConnell was undermining the system well before (and is likely to outlast) him.

So far this year, personal income for farmers is down 25%, the steepest decline since the first three months of 2016, according to an April 29 Commerce Department report. Regional banks, meanwhile, are holding their own.

 

That's pretty much what I've said the last two years. Trump is a side effect. McConnell is the disease that needs to be cured.
