Sure, Americans love celebrity, and royalty are just another species of celebrity. Especially the good-looking royals.

But let's not forget that Europe is a huge trading partner, and military ally of long standing, and that we just sent our worst citizen over there to poop in the regal punchbowl.

His detractors will be embarrassed by that. His supporters will be delighted.

In either case, Americans are keen to track the royal outrage index.

While I don't really care what the royals think I would like our President to able to travel the world without insulting someone (royal or not) at the drop of a hat. This apparently is too much to ask of the current president.

If you listen to the audio, I don't know, he barely cares.

Q: Are you sorry not to see her because she wasn't so nice to you during the campaign. I don't know if you saw that.

    T: I didn't know that. No. I didn't know that.

    Q: Yeah

T: I hope she's OK. I did not know that, no.

Q: She said she would move to Canada if you got elected. It turned out she moved to Britain.

T: Well, that's good. A lot of people moving here. So what can I say? No, I didn't know she was nasty.

Q: Is it good having an American princess then Mr. President? Does it help the link?

T: I think it's nice. I think it's nice and I'm sure she'll do excellently. She'll be very good. She'll be very good. I hope she does.

For Trump...this is pretty diplomatic. (I don't like the moved goalposts either.)

Has there been royal outrage? I know progressive liberal journalists who are already outraged intimate there will be or should be, but they do that as a matter of course. Has there been? I consider myself fairly with it news-wise and don't know, outside of this trumped-up thing about Markle.

I agree 100%...for Trump that is pretty diplomatic. And that is the fucking issue!

Queen Elizabeth gave Trump a gift. A book.

    Grandmaster level trolling.

Not just a book. An abridged one volume version of Churchill's six volume history of the Second World War.

"You see, Mr. Trump, Mr. Churchill like yourself was a fat braggart who hated immigrants and he would quite often be --to use your favorite word--nasty. But of course, he was once a POW, so you probably won't think much of him."
