I've heard about 15 0pinions on Beto tonight, and they're very confusing. Half of what I hear is that he made good points. Half say he shot himself out of the race.

The moment where Castro shouted him down was a tough one for him. You know the President will do the same in the general, so if he can't stand up to Castro, it calls into question how he'll handle the President. It was an interesting visual incongruity, as O'Rourke towers over Castro, but the shorter man was dominating him in that moment.

O'Rourke came across too genteel, even if he has good policy ideas. He'll need to be more aggressive and authoritative moving forward, I'd say.

Here's who talked the most tonight

Inslee spoke the least, but he had one of the best lines and I know he's all about climate change.
DeBlasio will get a weekend show on MSNBC. Really wish Ryan was in the Dem's House leadership, they could use a bomb thrower like him (he kind of reminded me of Boehner).
Really impressed with Castro - thought all the candidates "won" just getting on the stage, but yeah - people seemed to be going after Beto's voters. And Beto struck me as Al Gore-like (not a complement) - is Bob Shrum is campaign manager? Mark Penn?
Feel kind of bad for tomorrow's 10 - they'll need to put a fresh spin on the same issues and speak with as much, if not more energy than those tonight. Also impressed with how little Trump's name was mentioned.

Castro is a guy who will gain big recognition off this -- he's not really an outfront type compared to a lot of these others but he has the impressive resume. He'd be a great VP pick in a couple months.

I'm so sick of networks asking Republicans what Democrats should do.

Worth noting that he said that as the picture of the drowned father and daughter came up.

Chuck Todd asking the candidates to explain their foreign policy priorities in one or two words.

    Fuck that guy.
