Let Bernie join the party instead of being a Democrat when it’s convenient

On a very knee-jerk, simplistic scale, I think Gillibrand shitcanned herself last night with her general behavior -- trying to outshout others, refusing to follow the rules. That was noticed by many, I believe.

As a person who hopes to be part of that demographic, I’m a bit sad to admit that it was not a good night for geezers. If Sanders or Biden is the nominee, I will be an unenthusiastic voter in the general election.

Wednesday night, Warren seemed younger than her age.

Contrast her with Kamala, who refused to stop speaking before she was through. She dominated and pressed on by sheer force of will. I'm ok with most of what Gillibrand is talking policy wise, but she has poor debate timing, and her desperation to force her way into the discussion was obvious. Her tone was also grating.

I suspect that many viewers saw her in a similar way.

Which one do you think would be effective on a debate stage with Trump?

I get on Twitter and commentators are asking people "Now that you've seen the candidates, who is your frontrunner?"

It's like day three of the campaign. Frontrunner's ass. The true vetting is just getting started, who knows what will emerge over the next few months. I have half a dozen that look like serious contenders, and a couple that I like. Several distinguished themselves Other than that, it's waaay too early for that question.

Bernie hectoring and pointing his finger is a bad look. Biden with a meek "I've run over my time" projected low energy. Compare to Kamala. I don't know if Warren can win, but no one had their full campaign package together more than she did.

OTOH, there are several on that stage that I wish would bail now and run for the Senate. The D's desperately need a full landslide election, taking all three branches, to even begin to clean up the mess Trump will leave behind.

My mother is currently reading Joe Biden's book and in it he claims that He didn't get the feeling Obama would endorse him over Hillary. This only further reinforces my belief that Obama made a deal to support her in eight years after she bowed out.

This ought to end any discussion of Williamson as anything other than a waste-of-time sideshow:

There’s calculation in what Harris did last night. And, usually, you get to do it once. She did it to the nicest guy up there, too. (Too nice.)

Again: I’ve never been as impressed with her as others. I think she has a courtroom showperson vibe and her arguments don’t really line up. She can argue and win, but it often has to be in relation to something, not of its own accord. If Warren spent years and years thinking about making America whole economically - and she has - you get the sense Harris will simply borrow the ideas and put a tough-talk spin on them.
