After Swimming with Sharks I assumed he would be a prominent actor; not a star, but somebody people knew because of constant work and a few starring roles. Instead it was roles in serial TV shows and small movies. I wonder what happened and cannot find an answer, although there are some clues.

Danny Glover’s appearance in Maverick when Brett pulls down his bandanna. He even ends the scene by saying, “I’m getting too old for this shit.”

Margot Kidder was in Maverick as well- Richard Donner also directed Superman. I remember reading that she and another actress were booked for the same role, but they worked it out and they ended up playing sisters.

Tommy's mother in Goodfellas was also Artie Piscano's mother in Casino.

Casino, btw, would probably have aged better if it hadn't come so soon after Goodfellas and used two of its three main characters in somewhat similar roles. Actually, Pesci plays the same kind of sociopath, while with Ace we're basically waiting for him to flip out and act like Jimmy Conway, but he never does.

Casino also gave us Sharon Stone while she was still at her hottest.
