It sounds quaint, it really does, but do any of you remember Fourth of July being associated with flyovers or tanks or other military equipment?

Personally, I think of July 4 as baseball (my earliest July 4 memory is watching the 9th inning of Righetti's no-hitter against the Red Sox), barbecuing, flag waving, going to the beach, etc. I can't think of a single memory that includes a military aspect.

In fact, the closest I can come to thinking about the military on this date is the July 4, 2001, Yankees/Red Sox game, at which one of my friends noted that there was no flyover of military planes before the game.

I’m not a fan of the military aspect one bit. I’m also not going to let it screw up my day.

Well, French is such an enemy that some Trumpist actually wrote an “against Frenchism” screed.

Against David French-ism | Sohrab Ahmari

He had a screed written against him, Starman. A damn screed.

By the op-ed editor of the New York Post. Screeds on demand (especially of Uncle Rupert).

I don't think that the military is either. Two Abrams and two Brads isn't an overwhelming force of political support, it's a hush puppie.

The 4th of July celebration didn’t need changing — it was a non-partisan celebration. Big boy just needs to make it all about him.
