Rare Mets success should be celebrated as they celebrated 30 years of Seinfeld

JD Martinez brought three middling prospects
    Castellanos might bring two

I'm assuming Castellanos is worth no more than a bucket of Big League Chew at this point. However, Boyd and Shane Greene MAY bring back one piece each. That still leaves Avila missing, oh, about 20 players to fill a 25-man contending roster.

Castellanos is worth the back-end of someone's top 30 (15-30 range) prospect list. He's an above-average hitter in his walk year. That's usually the value of someone like that.

I doubt he can play anywhere but first base and he doesn't hit well enough to play there. Cervelli is trying to make a position change at 33 and his value was always tied up in his position.

With the steady inflation of pitching staffs chewing up more of rosters, teams cannot afford to have one-dimensional position-limited players taking up space on the bench.

Obviously he's got to clear everything through his doctors, but he might be able to sell the idea of being a RF-LF-3B-1B (emergency catcher). But the teams want to get as much utility as they can out of each roster spot.

He could say he wants to only be an emergency catcher once a month or so, then the second string catcher gets hurt and they want you to catch twice a week.

Also he's a RH batter with little or no foot speed. Two more strikes.
