    I'd be interested to see how he can legally have three current U.S. passports (the sentencing memo doesn't say). If you're a USG employee assigned abroad, you can have a personal one and a diplomatic or official one, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are circumstances in which individuals could have all three types at once. I doubt Epstein would be in that sort of situation, though - even if he did get an official one at one point, for example as part of an U.S. delegation as some non-USG employees are (like to the WWC final, though I imagine in his case it would more likely be to an European prime minister's inauguration), I expect those passports are for short duration and wouldn't be current now. The only way I can think of to have more than one U.S. passport of the same kind is to claim you've lost the first one(s), in which case its/their number(s) should be cancelled.

    If we're not talking just U.S. passports, that's different. I knew a businessman overseas who said he had passports from six countries - some by birth/ancestry, one because of residence, and some because he was an honorary consul of a few countries to the country where we were living.
