I expect that the Atlantic or a Twitterer with a similar outlook will complain that limiting it to UT-Austin skews the benefits more towards Asian-Americans (and maybe non-Hispanic whites) and away from African-Americans and Hispanics than would be the case if a smaller benefit were given to all undergrads in the UT system.

The judge in the Census question trial is refusing to allow the DOJ attorneys to withdraw and be replaced by an entirely different group of lawyers who are from a different DOJ specialty. Judge says 1. that this is a matter of time sensitivity with regard to the forms being printed, and B. that neither the DOJ nor the various attorneys have given any reason for the change. Judge says that these withdrawals will have to be individual, and accompanied by a sworn statement explaining why that person is withdrawing from the case.

Speculation is rampant that they want out because their best legal arguments have been ruled against by the Supreme Court and they are now being pressured to take measures which they feel are unethical or illegal.

Without reading that I know that the Texas state oil fund provides immense subsidies to the college system. There was a scandal some years ago involving a UT real estate deal in downtown Houston, and a distance-learning start-up, along with tuition increases, that eventually cost the then-UT President his job.

Trump dossier author Steele gets 16-hour DOJ grilling

I had not heard of this until just now. The interview with Steele took place while Trump was in London. Seems to have been fairly tightly held.

    Last graph:

"The interview was contentious at first, the sources added, but investigators ultimately found Steele’s testimony credible and even surprising. The takeaway has irked some U.S. officials interviewed as part of the probe — they argue that it shouldn’t have taken a foreign national to convince the inspector general that the FBI acted properly in 2016. Steele’s American lawyer was present for the conversation."

Yup. IIRC, both UT and aTm get a percentage of the royalty money generated by wells located on state owned land. Texas is in a helluva lot better position than most states to implement such a program.

Yeah, I've seen that one too. Same person who is still whining about Game 7 of VGK-SJ, but get flummoxed when asked why the Knights choked away a 3-1 series lead. Stopped engaging Trumpistas on Facebook long ago, but if I were to, I'd probably note athletes protesting is not unprecedented.
