    They keep getting arms
Lange was a big time pitcher at LSU
Wentz is a lefty and they don’t have many
You need a lot of arms because so many get hurt
You also can trade arms for bats

Giants were dealing at the deadline as well, getting some immediate help, a little help down the road and unloading a bad contract with Melancon.

    Man this really turned out.

Wonder what the Giants wanted for Mad Bum or Will Smith versus what the Yankees/Astros wanted. God knows the Yankees need starting pitching so that price must have been steep.

    Giants are the 2016 Tigers
They're keeping the band together for one last ride

As expected, the fucking Cardinals did absolutely jack and shit about improving their most glaring need, starting pitching. Even though they’re in first place at the moment, that rotation won’t hold up and they will miss the playoffs again.

    Motherfuckers.

    D-Backs picking up $24M of Grienke's $77M contract
    In 2017, Tigers picked up $20M of Verlander's $66M
First of the three players traded to the Tigers, C Jake Rogers, just hit his first major league HR
Another, OF Daz Cameron, son of Mike, should be up next month

The Braves must have really wanted Melancon. They're picking up his whole salary.

And the Giants hit three homers in one inning to beat the Phillies tonight.

The guy the Mets wanted as part of the Dickey trade - and the Jays said no, we'll move Syndergaard - gets dealt for a fourth outfielder.

Not gonna lie: when he said Leroy Jenkins, I thought he was referring to the short story by William Price Fox of the same name where an oddball member of a mill baseball team decides to take on the toughest player on a prison team in a fight. I was like “wow, that is a pull.” Then I realized I was wrong. And old. So very, very old.

    The Tigers are 32-72.
They need to go 12-46 to best the 2003 team.
    Can they do it?
