I’d like to think it matters. But 40% of the population just doesn’t care. Someone posted it yesterday, these people want rightwing authoritarianism to rule, no govern, this country.
The question is, are there enough white men and women in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania willing to vote against trump? Can the Dems hold Va and Colorado ? Can the Dems flip North Carolina and Arizona?

Less than a million voters voted for trump in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. They carried 10 electoral votes. No where else does an electoral vote carry so much weight Which means there vote is worth 155% of California and New York’s. Which means 155,000 Clinton votes for an electoral vote compared to less than 100,000 per electoral trump vote

Trump isn't flipping Northern Virginia, therefore Trump is not winning Virginia. The major cities in the state are all dark blue.

Listening to The Daily this morning, it struck me that there are so many people and public officials who are willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt in these situations out of a respect for the office and a belief that he can do something to bring people some measure of unity or empathy. But he is simply incapable of doing so and in fact always makes everything about him.

Guess what, even if true, no one cares that people in the Dayton hospital were excited to see you. It’s not a referendum on your support. It’s about playing the role of President every once in a while. Instead, everything turns into the partisan MAGA shitshow.

Hopefully agree. The Dems then need to nominate someone to carry about 40 electoral votes from Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Arizona.

Or find a Democrat capable of winning Florida and Pennsylvania If you can win Florida it means you can carry Wisconsin and probably Michigan.

I have no faith that the Dems can do that.

It is fruitless to speculate on an election that's 15 months away. But if it were held today, Trump would lose. He would lose badly to Biden and less badly to the other plausible Democratic nominees, but he would lose. This could change of course, but how? Will the economy get even better (his biggest positive)? Maybe. Will Trump become less of an asshole (biggest negative?) No way.
Also, the Democrats have 2o candidates now. Those who argue none of them can win either better get more specific about why each of them cannot, or just admit they think Trump is invincible. If the latter, how come 2018 happened?

Can't we just lie to him and tell him the plane is out for repairs? "Texas? Can't do it. Plane's getting new struts. Shop said it'll be a couple of days."
