I’m with you. Not everyone likes U2, and I get that, but the band is an obvious lock.

From what I know of you, I had a feeling you’d mention The Smiths. They’re my favorite band from the ‘80s, but I’m not sure where they fit in the discussion. I guess I never really thought of their music as rock.

This is like Nelson Muntz talking Andy Williams.

Again, what are the parameters? Is U2 really "rock 'n' roll"?

C'mon, is this really rock? It's Irish lullabying.

My fave song off that album....fucking Philistine. And nobody does lullabies better than the Irish.

Def Leppard. (But I don't think they suck.)

1 arm Def Leppard > 2 arm Def Leppard

LOL get back to me when the Irish lullabiers comes within a thousand miles of this.

    Edit: 1978. #MyFail ... point still stands.

That's the whole point. Billy Joel's 1980s output was doo-wop, some soft stuff and "We Didn't Start The Fire".

How would that qualify him for a Rock Mount Rushmore for that decade?

One can make the argument - and in the 1970s we did - that Billy Joel is pop, not rock.

And Guns 'n' Roses are glam metal.

So I'll ask again, what constitutes "rock"?
