    Do people still give a shit about Dan Rather? I mean, I'm not invoking John T. Reed by any means, but I know I couldn't possibly care less about what Dan Rather thinks.

    To be fair - I can't think of anyone who has done much meaningful work after leaving the big anchor desk. And that includes Brokaw who gravytrained Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers for a tidy sum with his Greatest Generation books. Rather seems kind of like a sad case. Always thought he would have done well to go around and talk to folks who were big in the news 20-30 years prior, figure out where they are now, maybe pry some news out of them.
