If they want to filibuster a bill, make them own it. Object publicly, then stand there and read the phone book and hold things up for hours, pissing off people who want to use the time to do business. Put their faces on television, identifying what they are blocking and why. As it stands, even if you can muster sixty votes for a bill it is often impossible to bring it to a vote. Fuck McConnell.

 

If you don't have checks and balances - or if you work to undermine them - this government will not function the way the founding fathers intended.

You could write a book about how this country has been turned upside down and is now governed by a minority - will continued to be governed by a minority due to the Electoral College and the Senators from those low-population, lower-quality of life states determining the Judiciary. It's only going to get worse as population continues to cluster in states with better quality of life and higher economic activity.

My investment guy called me this afternoon to talk about a conference call he wants to set up after Labor Day. The tone of complete frustration in his voice when he uttered the phrase "Trump's tweets today" was very real. Of course this fellow is a Republican. But he didn't sound like an enthusiastic one to say the least.
