No, the US probably should not be OK with it . . . since such a move affects the US.
I don't think the people of Ukraine will give a shit, however.

Likewise, I don't expect the Ukraine to be happy about Crimea . . . since such a move affects the Ukraine.
I don't see why the people of the United States should give a shit, however.

Face it. If people want to break away from Russia, the US will cheer them on. If they want to break away from somewhere else and join Russia, the US will fight it. A double standard as transparent as glass.

This all ignores the simple fact that the US can and would fight to stop Mexico. Just as Ukraine was free to fight to stop Russia.

And it also ignores the fact that what happened in Ukraine was preceded by something that the United States can only blame itself for. We didn't have to do any of this, you know. But when you play pinata with foreign governments, bad things usually result.

There he is, like clockwork. More pathetically pro-Putin than even the Imbecile in Chief.

Also, it's just Ukraine. Not "the Ukraine." You'd think a copy editor with as much experience as you claim would know that. Or are you so insular that you've only done sports?

That's as comical as Bret Stephens trying to get somebody fired over a joke about bedbugs on Twitter.

Those Times folks are the easiest to needle on Twitter, aren't they.
Stephens has an even thinner epidermal layer than Maga Haberman.

But not quite as comical as a hypothetical about Mexico seizing land from the United States. ;)

I've seen a lot of weird fanboyism on this site over the years, but I've never seen somebody whose pecker is made Magic Shell-hard by all things Putin Russia.

Well, that’s because Ohio State threatened to sue them for trademark infringement. [cross-thread]

You're justifying an invasion due to the ethnicity of people living there. I was wondering if you'd support any and all invasions based on the same factors.

Why does POTUS keep acting like a sleazy real estate guy with zero experience in government?

He took time out of a massively important conference to pimp the size of his toxic resort’s conference rooms?

If Putin's argument for taking Crimea goes back to the original Russian annexation of 1783, Mexico certainly has standing to launch an invasion based on its boundaries of 1821.
