    Nope.

Both pitched complete games, something that has disappeared in the last 15 years or so.

    Christy Mathewson and Three-Finger Brown?

Correct, in 1916, when Mathewson was withe the Reds, not the Giants. Both got lit up, both pitched complete games, Christy had three hits, Brown two.

Another fun stat with Mathewson. He was signed by the Giants, pitched poorly, was drafted by the Reds in whatever passed for the Rule 5 draft back then. The Reds then traded him back to the Giants for Amos Rusie, who hadn’t pitched in two years. Rusie pitched three games for the Reds, retired, and eventually went into the Hall of Fame. He and Mathewson combined for 606 wins with the Giants, and went a combined 1-1 in four games for the Reds.

Reds sure liked their washed-up Giants pitchers back then.

One time in history, a 300-game winner has saved a game for a 300-game winner. Name the two pitchers.

Also, it was one of the reliever’s two career saves.

Mathewson and Edd Roush, a future HOF, were also traded by the Giants to the Reds for a manager, Buck Herzog. Christy was done by that time but Roush went on to have a great (obviously) career with Cincinnati before returning to the NYG late in his career.

I'm also thinking of a famous player who was on six teams that lost in the World Series. Not sure if that has ever been matched.

    Gonna guess Ryan and Seaver.

No. To clarify my question, both pitchers already had 300 at the time.

Aha. Then thinking it has to be niekro and Carlton during their brief time in Cleveland?
