    Norms?

    Let's start with:

    1, Don't beseech foreign nationals for assistance in breaking US campaign laws;

    2, Disclose your tax returns, as all presidential candidates have done for 49 years;

    3, Don't discuss the topic of sex with your daughter, even hypothetically or jokingly, in public. Ever. If you do somehow blunder ONCE into making some stupid tasteless perverted comment in that area, for God's sake do not go on other interview programs and start talking about it again and again and again.

    You mean those norms?

    They won't; the only thing they hate more than speaking the truth is face-to-face confrontation.

    They'll "appeal" it, figuring they'll get bailed out by their SCOTUS puppets.
    In the meantime they'll continue to

    Exactly. They have a 5-4 majority on the Supreme Court. It's the ultimate backstop.

    What makes you think anything is going to change then? The fantasy of adding justices is just that — fantasy. And not a one will ever be impeached. Unless someone kills three or four, we’re stuck with this court for the next 20 or 30 years, which means we’re stuck with this court.

    Clarence Thomas won’t live forever. Just got to find a way to nurse RBG to the finish line. (And to blow Moscow Mitch our of his seat.)

    There is no constitutional specification as to how many justices should be on the SCOTUS. Through trial and error it eventually settled at nine.

    FDR talked about packing the court, but was convinced not to since it would have been a serious violation of historical norms.

    If the Dems manage to take the Senate next year, their attitude is going to be, "fuck your norms." Filibuster? Gone. Nine-member SCOTUS? Gone too.

    Adding justices is not a fantasy if the Dems take the Senate. It’s necessary because of Moscow Mitch. Forget about the filibuster. It’s toast.
