Depends on if the decision is based in federal law or state law. If the decision is based solely in North Carolina’s law or state constitution, SCOTUS won’t bother with a hearing. And because the decision is based heavily on Section 10 of the state constitution (the whole section is the sentence “All elections shall be free.”), this is finished. The state GOP has already recognized that this is the end and has announced that it will not appeal.

Yeah, I think you are right on North Carolina. I have been following this closely, and there is no federal issue. It's entirely state.
And as you said, the top state Republicans - except for the doucher from Harnett County who is the main offender - have said it's over, and they plan to comply.

It must be strange being a Supreme Court justice, knowing that at any given moment, half of the American population is fairly openly rooting for you to die.

You and @Starman act like you've never seen Democratic politicians in action — or, should I say, inaction. Their first instinct is to turtle whenever confronted on any issue. Their second instinct is to turtle whenever confronted on any issue. They're the slightly nerdy kid in elementary school who tries just a little too hard to be liked.

I'll bet on them doing exactly jack and shit if they take the Senate. I'd like to be wrong, but I don't think I'll be.

Jim Mattis' book came out yesterday. He doesn't directly criticize Trump, but he gets in his shots.

“If you haven’t read hundreds of books, you are functionally illiterate, and you will be incompetent, because your personal experiences alone aren’t broad enough to sustain you,” Jim Mattis writes in his new memoir, which came out yesterday. “Any commander who claims he is ‘too busy to read’ is going to fill body bags with his troops as he learns the hard way.”

It looks like those are someone else's arms and Ivanka is standing behind a headless person who's actually wearing the dress.
