After listening to some comics on podcasts, my impression is that the Netflix money isn't huge for those below the big name level or that it is a good home. David Cross did a Netflix hour, but he released his most recent special 'across platforms.' The reasons for the change were he possibly could make more money and his belief that his special wouldn't get promotion on Netflix. It might be reaction to Netflix's attitude of 'do a lot of everything to draw people in and see what sticks.'

There definitely is a saturation concern, but I'm not sure David Cross is the best example, there. He's a name, but he's still kind of a niche with his dark humor. He's also pretty polarizing, and not in a Chappelle way where people tune in to see what he might say next. Cross can be pretty confrontational and offputting.

A better example might be Jim Gaffigan, who probably has wider appeal than Cross but is still a notch or two below the stand-up stars. Gaffigan opted not to do a Netflix exclusive because he was hoping to spread his special out wider, but even he acknowledged that the method may not work and that in two years it may be another model. So for some people it may not work, but for someone like Leslie Jones, I think Netflix probably presented the best financial commitment.

Figured at least one of the new cast would be sixtish and white - male or female. I don't see a Biden, Trump, Bernie or Warren...

It's called -- Sudekis, Baldwin, David and McKinnon

That isn't sustainable - but maybe the fat guy is going to be the new Trump?

Baldwin says he won't do Trump any longer. I think he said that before, so who knows?

I almost think SNL needs to redo it. Hammond's was too gentle, Baldwin's is pretty buffoonish. The next one needs more pure sleeze.

I remember seeing Gillis play football for Trinity High School.

Now, let's see if he makes it to Week 1.

He went on to enroll at West Point and then transferred to Elon, I believe.
