... and, more than anything, the Dems need a very strong candidate under 65 to emerge by, say, springtime?

Can that happen? Dems better align and refocus soon. ... And the "debates" should not be these sound-bite contests.

My pretty solid guess is this was written by a 20-something who was taught in journalism class that it's all about SEOs and SOCIAL MEDIA, rather than nuance or actual context.
And that 20-something is probably making 25K to write tweets for the NY Times, and oh my, won't that be great on the resume for the next journalism job.
Which will be geared toward SEOs and SOCIAL MEDIA.

I wouldn't hazard a guess about this gaffe,
but it sure points up the loss of desk editors.

Were desk editors ever involved in tweets though? In my experience, social media has always been a separate department without a lot of overview -- until a tweet or post goes awry.

I will always remember the little fuckin neckbeard who headed up our web department, and oversaw the excretion of SEO-friendly, context-deficient display copy eight days a week.
Gingerbread is correct the web monkeys are meagerly paid, but department management isn't.
Like most schmucks this guy thought he was too clever by half.

Tweets maybe oughta go through the desk, too.
Sorry, sacred reporters, but look what happens when they don't.

This should get him to stop tweeting about Alabama, if anything.

This might be the most true thing said about anything politically related in the last few years. I like it. Now if they could just figure out how to get along.

They do get along. These debates (they're not really that) have been very very tame compared to the Republican 2015 cattle calls and the Obama-Clinton debates in 2008.

It was so obvious last year the whole investigation was a sham. Right-wingers knew what Kavanaugh did to Ford and others. They just didn't care.
