Take away "The Catch" and Montana doesn't go into the HoF. Career passer rating is below Kirk Cousins.

Pretty sure Montana has done a little more than that.

Pretty sure Manning has done more than the Tyree catch, too.

Not a hell of a lot. And not remotely close to what Montana has done so your comparison is awful.

You realize I was pointing out how stupid the Manning point was, not literally saying that Montana wouldn't have made the HoF without "The Catch," right?

"Not a hell of a lot" is just ignorant.

Are we really comparing passer ratings from an era in which defenders (particularly d-backs) were allowed to play football versus an era in which they are not?
Because Kirk Cousins falls far short of even the Jim Everetts of that era.

Eli is not getting into the Hall of Fame. I'll bet anybody here any sum up to $500 on that.

Bullshit. Manning is not getting in with just one ring. And comparing Montana’s passer rating to Cousins to try to make a point is just as dumb. At least Keenum played in the same pass happy era as Manning. Manning’s the beneficiary of two of the luckiest plays in in super bowl history.

    He had another lucky run.

What was the other one? It isn't the 38-yard pass to Manningham that helped set up the winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLVI. That was a hell of a throw.

I say that as a guy who doesn't think much of Eli Manning and I agree that the throw to Tyree was pure luck. The escape from pressure on that play is overrated and the throw was just a heave into coverage.

Dallas, for one. You could make the case they're as good as anyone in the NFC.

Both Minnesota and Houston seem like they could be formidable contenders.

San Fran, Indy--you never know when some team is going to catch a wave and roll with it.

Hey, you could well be right, but I think the point is week 2 is too early in the NFL to lock out 26 teams with no chance to win it all. Now, if you want to flip to the college side, you could do that--probably get down to 4, 3 or even 2 that will win it all.

As I said, will be fun to re-visit this in January and see how it all turned out.
