Which has nothing to do with this year.

The defense was 1000x better. The windows people were passing into were much smaller. Edmonds played with swagger. That has to come from Minka.

The offense is in serious trouble and the root of the problem is Conner. He's been terrible this year. All he does is run into people. There was a play yesterday where he does one cut to the left and the sideline is his. He just lowers his head and gets tackled. He's not Campbell. He's not from Nigeria, He's not Bo or Adrian or Bettis. He has to be able to make people miss. Rudolph has no chance without a running game. Samuels, who is a better back, was MIA.

This is a rebuilding year, but I am fine with the defense after the trade.

Every year leans on the next and so on. Same organization. That's why the Browns couldn't just flip the script by adding a bunch of headline guys. There'll still the moronic franchise who dumps a Gregg Williams to go hire Freddie Kitchens.

I had a longer explanation but I got distracted and didn't want to go back. Basically, I was going to say my gut would say Flores except Miami had no intention of winning this year. I wonder, however, if it will be a Chip Kelly in San Francisco situation where he took over a rebuild but got canned when even that didn't go well.

As a Bengals fan, I would expect at least one win against Pittsburgh this year because that would be a very Bengal way to do it, in a year where Pittsburgh is a non-factor in the AFC. I think the Bengals plus points at Pittsburgh is a pretty attractive play next Monday nite, especially if AJ Green is back.

Dumping Williams was correct. Hiring Kitchens was abysmal.

Everything I've read indicated that Green would be out longer than that.

That is exactly right. See what you are doing, CD? You're making me agree with JC!

I do realize the Steelers haven't been under .500 since 2003. They also haven't been without Ben Roethlisberger as their quarterback since 2003, but that is their reality at least for the rest of this season. I think he and Brown covered for some serious issues last season and with them gone, the offense is a mess.

Entering the 1970s, the Steelers had never won a playoff game despite being in the NFL since 1933. Then Dan Rooney got more involved in the day-to-day operations and Chuck Noll took as head coach. There was more to it than that, but the culture changed along with the talent level.

They have had stretches of a few bad seasons since then. This could easily be another one. There was no winning culture in that locker room last season. That was a team that found ways to lose. They may have gotten rid of some locker room issues, but they also lost a lot of talent. They lost one of the best running backs in the league last year and now they are without an elite receiver and a future Hall of Fame quarterback. That kind of loss of talent matters.

Trying to react to a couple different things here, because I was out of commission from the thread with a stomach bug...

    - I think the Chiefs letting the Ravens get back into at the end *is* relevant, because it seems like more of that old Andy Reid bullshit rearing its head. I'm usually for an "underdog" like the Ravens going more aggressive against a favorite like Harbaugh did, but in hindsight, maybe he should have anticipated it.

    - Josh Rosen might be good, he might not. But kind of like David Carr, it wouldn't surprise me if he develops so many awful habits and takes so many hits in his first couple years that his potential erodes anyway.

    - The Steelers' schedule is pretty light this year, but in past years, didn't they always have a "letdown" game or two per year? For that reason, plus you always figure some growing pains with a young QB, and I'd expect them more in the 5 to 8 win range than a playoff team.

    - The Browns doing Browns stuff on Sunday night kind of obscured the fact that the Rams have not looked impressive this year.

Chiefs are an offensive juggernaut but their D is bad; reminds me of the Marino Dolphins. Too bad because what an offense.

Yeah, the Rams are looking like a mirage. [Edit, but Donald remains a beast, which makes the D really good] Being from NorCal and a Cal fan, I want to see Goff do well but he's "pretty" but doesn't look like he makes the tough plays; great when its a clean pocket but otherwise. I was telling a friend, that Garappalo will not be a stud/elite QB until he can make things happen on 3rd and 8 with everyone in the house knowing he's got to throw. Jimmy G did it yesterday; I'm still waiting on Goff on that.

I was thinking that Goff wasn't even the best Cal QB of the last 10 years when he was drafted. A great coaching staff can hide your flaws. A mediocre one can't and a bad coaching staff only exacerbates them.

  12. Aj Green is out for this week and Monday’s game.
The Steelers offensive line - for whatever reason - is terrible. Some of the guys are old, but still... this was supposed to be among the best lines in the NFL.

The defense has been bad in the second half of the last 2 games, and all of the NE game.
Butler is not a good DC.

Rudolph was little more than ok, but he showed improvement in the second half. The INT was a poor decision. His passer rating was pedestrian . He has a long way to go before Ben has to worry about losing his job.
