As long as Dan Snyder owns them this will continue.

The common denominator in continued awfulness, across sports, is awful ownership. It's usually hard to find "good owner for X years, awful team for X years."

They've gotten to a Super Bowl and had their share of playoff appearances. They haven't had an extended run of "awful" on his watch.

Weren’t the Rooneys considered “good owners” even though the Steelers were mostly awful until the ‘70s?

Blank has owned the season for 17 seasons before this one -- they have six losing seasons (worst record 4-12 twice), two .500 and nine winning ones with seven 10-plus win seasons. They have eight playoff appearances, an NFC title and another conference title game.

For comparison, the Redskins in that time -- 11 losing seasons, one .500 and six winning seasons with two 10-win seasons. They have four playoff appearances and no playoff wins.

I know it's only a few snaps but I did a double-take when I checked out the leader in NFL Passer Rating.

I don't think so. Art Rooney, Sr. was the owner from the start of the franchise in 1933 until his death in 1988. The Chief was apparently a well-liked character, but I don't know that anybody considered him a good owner until the team started winning in the '70s. Many of the questionable decisions over nearly four decades of bad football came from him, especially the questionable coaching hires. Things started to turn around about the time Dan Rooney took a more active role in running the team.

Forget Rivers, Romo was a better QB for all but about 3 months of their careers, and it wasn't close.

He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1964, well before they started winning regularly, so he was obviously held in high regard.
