    Too early to start my D.C.-sports-fan boo-hooing?

    Considering where the Nats were on Memorial Day, this game should be nothing but pure pleasure for any DC fan.

    Why can’t they play both the wild-card games on Tuesday? Start the 2 v 3 LDS on Wednesday and the 1 v wild card on Thursday. Make avoiding a play-in tie-breaking game mean a little more.

    So the games don't go up against each other or one is during the day and they want each league's LDS series on the same schedule would be my guess.

    Baseball really needs to start its playoffs in mid September and be done around now. The yearly stats records are all screwed up anyway bc of the PED infusion, so who cares if they roll it back to say, 144 games played? The end of the regular season is such a slog.

    Bring back double-headers. They way teams manage pitching staffs now - it shouldn't be much of a problem.

    This is peak baseball season, multiple games and tension all around. WC games are tremendous. I love the one game sudden death aspect. While I appreciate the Astros' sheer talent, I've got to root for the hometown A's to finally bring Billy Beane the Holy Grail; what they've done to continue to compete under the lack of resources and dreadful ballpark is amazing.

    Nats going with Scherzer instead of Strasburg; hmmm....I love Mad Max and he's the closest to a HOF pitcher in our midst now IMHO, but his post season track record isn't that great and he had patches of struggling this year whereas Strasburg has been pretty solid the whole year right?

    Casey @ the Bat ... as partially reimagined by @outofplace.

    But Flynn defied the numbers, making contact with the ball;
    And sent it on a mighty arc — it caromed off the wall.
    “The guy should be on third,” a salty graybeard spat and cursed,
    As Flynn removed his batting gloves, a jogger still at first.

    The other guy? A double by the waiver-wire addition;
    (His former owner dumping salary without contrition);
    And when the blaring music stopped, fans noticed what occurred,
    Instead of crossing o’er the plate, young Flynn was still at third.

    I’m sure that’s it, but some teams having four off days before a series starts is insane.

    If they did one day-night doubleheader a month, they’d cut a week off the season.
