Why? Barr can outlast Trump and refuse to prosecute. And Pence will pardon Trump in the interest of "national healing." Left unsaid, of course, is the near certainty that if a pardon isn't immediately issued, Trump will have one of his goons whack Pence.

The state of New York (certainly) and several others (probably) will indict him on multiple felony charges the minute he leaves office.

Good time to remind people that a coup is a bloody, violent uprising, usually by an army to overthrow a government. An impeachment inquiry is not a fucking coup. Jesus.

Unless there was a cartoon I'm unaware of, I'm guessing no.

Sen. Angus King, of Maine (I), was on Cooper tonight and mentioned that he had a staffer read aloud the memorandum of the phone call twice and it timed out at 10:40. The call itself, he said, lasted 30 minutes. He acknowledged that if a translator was used, that could account for some (most? all?) of the discrepancy, but he also noted that the Ukranian president speaks English and might not have needed a translator. Makes you wonder what might have been left out of that memorandum.

Oh, he also said he'd be surprised if there isn't a word-for-word transcript.

"Speaking" English is not the same as knowing all the nuances of the language, all the possible ways to convey a message. Putin is fluent in German but uses a translator with Merkel.

Here's an example: Before the election, Putin referred to Trump as "яркий" (bright). When he read about that, Trump thought Putin meant "intelligent" (because we use "bright" in that way) and took it as a compliment. But Putin simply meant "noticeable, something that stands out." A translator would never make that mistake.
