Another hint. World War II did put a four year gap in his college career, which played into the reason for a short pro career.

I’ll make two more guesses of Buddy Young or Arnie Weinmeister.

Ding ding ding. It was Weinmeister. He got into a salary dispute with the giants and decided to play in Canada where he was a closer to his home in Seattle.

He was All Pro all four seasons in the NFL.

I knew Weinmester had left the Giants for Canada, but I wasn’t sure how long his career had been beforehand.

There’s a somewhat funny story told about him in the “Giants of New York” a book on the history of the franchise written in the early 60s.
During one year that the team was lousy, several players, including Weinmeister and Charlie Conerly, went to MSG for a Rangers game with their wives. The PA guy introduced them, and the fans booed. One fan started cursing out Conerly, and Weinmester stood up and yelled out to him. The fan took one look and ran off.

Intuitively you’d think the Yankees as a franchise have the most HRs in baseball history. And you’d be right.
Which franchise has the lowest aggregate ERA in baseball history?

My gut tells me it's the Dodgers.

What team(s) have the highest World Series winning percentage and the lowest World Series winning percentage?
    EXCLUDING SEATTLE AND WASHINGTON.

Highest -- gonna go with Toronto, as they've been in two Series and won them both.
Lowest -- San Diego? They've been in two (1984 and 1998) and lost them both handily.

I don't think any team has ever been in it and not won a single game. Rangers, Rays, they both won a couple games, I believe.

Providence Grays won the first World Series 3 game to none in 1884. Never played another World Series game and didn't relocate.
