True - okay - well I'll define it as happening after the Civil War.

It's Texas, but it wouldn't have been Villa. He wasn't really representing the Mexican armed forces. I believe it was during the Mexican-American War when the Mexican army crossed the Rio Grande.

After the Civil War? I didn't think Villa counted as an invading force more like a marauding force of bandits.

Well I'm counting it dammit!:) - Columbus NM. Not much of memorial - but whatever. Oddly enough - they named it Pancho Villa State Park.

I’ll say Pierce, since a lot of guys died during that era.

Pretty sure pierce only served one term, but could obviously be wrong

Correct, Pierce is the only president to not be renominated by his party as he sought a second term.

Actually that brings up an obscure factoid that I found interesting:

Five presidents have declined to seek a second elected term in office but only two actually made it a campaign promise to only be a one-term president. Who were those two? And for bonus points, who were the other three who opted to not seek a second elected term while they were in office? (please make the distinction between the two questions)

No. Martin Van Buren replaced Jackson as president.
Alas, only his second veep died in office.

LBJ is the most recent president eligible to run for a second term who opted not to run.
