The A's have extended their MLB Postseason record for consecutive losses in Winner-Take-All games (9). The franchise's last one came all the way back in Game 7 of the 1973 World Series vs the Mets

    Neato.
We're going to go from 54,005 announced last night to announced around 24,000 when there won't be 15,000 in the Krap.
Isn't there a Monster Truck show scheduled for the next 2 weeks and they could just play all of their games on the road?

I don’t know what the Rays’ ownership could do better to attract crowds. They have had 3 losing seasons and 5 post season appearances in the toughest division in American sports over the last 12 years. Big10 East and SEC West included.

    Move the damn team already

    They've had four losing seasons

I stand corrected. They’ve had more 90+ win seasons than losing seasons. ITs a good franchise in a shit stadium. You’d think Tampa, St Pete would be a good market, at least as good as Charlotte and Nashville

Every time I check in on a baseball game these days, I'm stunned at how much my knowledge has changed since leaving the business.

The Tampa Bay lineup was a collection of strangers to me.

I'm not sure I watched 10 total innings of baseball this year.

But I will tune in for do or die games, so I had the TV on last night.

A situation came up - I believe it was 2 outs, nobody on. Tampa puts 4 guys in the outfield, and NONE between second and third. (I know the ESPN crew gets a lot of shit here, but they set it up perfectly).

Here was, I thought, a perfect cat-mouse set up. Much more interesting to me than the base stealer-pitcher cat and mouse games in years gone by.

A's hitter was having none of it. He swung away, and I believe he flew out to an outfielder.

Oh well. I am not by any means implying the A's hitter should lay one down, or go the other way. I fully understand he knows his situation better than I do.

BUT, if the hitter vs. shift games would take place, I would watch that all day.

I heard several commentators say this season that more teams were deliberately trying to beat the shift, ie, "hit 'em where they ain't," as all the old-schoolers have been grumbling for years.

The Twins were cited as a team particularly trying this approach.
Over the season, the Twins were # 2 in runs scored, #3-4 in BA and OBP, so whatever their offensive approach is, it seems to be working OK.

They did set the team record for home runs

Twins, with 307 home runs, narrowly beat Yankees for single-season team record
