I personally like that the kid told the paper how tough it was not to play in the game.

The coach has to be a moron: if you're gonna bring in a superstar ringer, just use him in spots to win the game, don't let him roll up big stats which raise red flags.

I was thinking the same thing. But there is a "Marvin Burks" listed on their MaxPreps roster with some links to several highlight videos where he's playing safety. Both players are listed at 6-1, 175. So I'm a little confused if there is an actual Marvin Burks on the team and Jackson just assumed his identity for that game, or if they went to an even more absurd level to try and cover this up by creating a fake MaxPreps page for someone who doesn't exist.

Coach is indeed a moron. The picture of the kid playing when he shouldn't be shows he's wearing a sleeve on one arm. Why not have him wear the sleeves on both? Also what would the coach have done if the paper actually staffed the game? Some off chance that a writer wanted to feature the team for some reason and went to the game and wanted to talk with this freshman who went nuts in his first game. Or what if the opposing coach went up to the "freshman" after the game to offer congrats and said "hey, I know you!"? Just have the kid sit and learn his damn lesson and you'd have a game to prepare for tonight.

Could just say he got murdered in Chicago.

Then no one would have covered it.

What murders in Chicago have gone uncovered?

Or is this a "National Media!" thing?

Because "national media" also doesn't cover murders in Little Rock, Birmingham, Nashville, Bloomington, ... (I could keep naming cities, of course)

Also, "Is this punishment given to every school in every neighborhood?"

Fuck right off, Mom. Just fuck off.

No it's not, mom ... because most other schools play by the rules!
