You wouldn't tell by this inning that the Astros were the best team in baseball this year. Yeesh.

 

Did not see that inning coming. If the Astros don’t get it going, they could be Cardinaled by Saturday.

Has a team ever swept in the championship and World Series in the same postseason?

Good question. The '99 Yankees went 11-1 on their way to the title, but the one loss was in the ALCS to the Red Sox. Somebody must have, right?

 

I'm rather disappointed we might not get the chance to see Hector Rondon pitch to Anthony Rendon.

 

Looks like the 1976 Reds were the only team to do it.
Since they added the Division Series round in 1995, the 1999 Yankees and 2005 White Sox came closest. Both went 11-1 in the postseason.

A couple of teams (including the Tigers twice) swept the LCS and then got swept in the World Series.

 

‘76 was best of 5 for the LCS. A 3 game sweep

Yeah, and the LCS was best 3 of 5 when the Reds swept my Phils that year. They had a pretty good team.
