G. Elliott Morris is the Economist's elections and polling analytics guy. He linked to an article he wrote on his Twitter feed with posts that indicated while he shines at math, he's not too sharp in history. In a tweet, he said "increased polarization could make removal (of the President, my paren) more difficult." My first thought was, no President has ever been removed by an impeachment trial. If he meant to say, Republicans are more likely to stick with Trump than they did with Nixon, just say so. My second thought was, "really, America is more polarized now than it was in 1868 when Andrew Johnson was impeached, when the country was three years off a civil war where 600,000 died and U.S. states were under military occupation? Isn't that a little heavier than Twitter flame wars?"

 

New drinking game: Every time you hear a GOP-type spout the opinion that "any president who is impeached and acquitted should be allowed to run for a third term."

The 1790s were many times more rancorous than this pathetic era.
My one media criticism is that it's a real bad look when Maddow and others are hawking their own books on their own or sister shows.
Other than the worthless DC press corps that anyone paying attention can see is not doing its job daily.
How much is it going to take for one of these folks to ask Trump about particularities of his wife's immigration, for example.
