Looking forward to it. I enjoyed the last one, unlike the organized troll army who apparently wants to make its own movie.

Biggest concern is how the Carrie Fisher stuff turns out.

Still wondering if the Palpatine thing is a giant troll. They also are really hinting at Kylo Ren moving to the Jedi side, with him and Rey destroying the plinth with the Vader helmet on it.

Buying tickets to a movie like you're buying tickets to a concert or a sporting event...I wish I liked certain movies or series like that, to engage in that shared experience. I just have never been able to summon that kind of enthusiasm for movies. My loss.

It's not as much excitement as it is being cautious. It's the only way to fully guarantee my family and I would be able to sit together, as these tend to sell out quickly the first week.

Now, the tickets I bought for the Letterkenny Live Tour? I'm actually super excited about those.

It really is more of a practical thing. It's also damn near impossible to avoid spoilers for long with anything MCU or Star Wars, so seeing them opening weekend becomes a must.

The local theatre on a Tuesday afternoon is half-price and rarely half-full. I usually can avoid spoilers until then.

Got tix for opening Friday afternoon. As much as I have to use social media for work, it would be hard to avoid spoilers. And we live in an asshole culture.

Does anyone really, actually, care that much about spoilers?

We're fans. We want to know what happens. And knowing, or seeing/hearing some little snippet is not going to keep you from going to see the movie -- either sooner, or later. Is it? It wouldn't stop me, I know that, and I don't think it would take anything away from it for me, either.

Indeed, it might even help you see, catch or understand some things you may see when you do go, right from the first time you see it, rather than it taking two or multiple viewings to really appreciate a movie, as sometimes happens.

I always want to go in fresh. Make my own judgement. Then absorb other opinions to validate or question my own.

Like sports, I want to see it in real time.

Exactly. Hearing spoilers won't keep me from seeing the movie, but I think it is much better to avoid them and see everything unfold as I watch the movie.

I still remember how I spoiled The Phantom Menace for myself. I was visiting a friend, who had picked up a copy of the soundtrack, which was available ahead of the release of the movie. I looked at the back without thinking and the track listing spoiled the death of Qui-Gon. To be fair, that one wasn't hard to figure out from the trailers. They showed Obi-Wan's reaction and it was hard to imagine him reacting that way to any other character's death. Still, it was annoying.

So yes, people do really care about spoilers and I am one of those people.

I was spoiled for Ep. 7 by reading Breitbart comment section because ... I don’t know, some mix of “wow look how crazy people are,” “I should try to understand what crazy people think,” and self torture.

Anyway, some red hat jackass posted about Solo’s fate on a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with it, and a few weeks before the movie released. Why? Because people there are bad people and bad people do horrible things.
